Special Education: General Curriculum K-12 Endorsement
Old Dominion University and George Mason University offer grant funding/discounts for qualified school division personnel seeking endorsement in special education: general curriculum. Teachers with valid provisional special education: general curriculum licenses are eligible and other school personnel with bachelor’s degrees may be eligible. Tuition assistance is available for provisionally licensed teachers; others receive course discounts.

Special Education: Adapted Curriculum K-12 Endorsement
Old Dominion University is pleased to join the Virginia Consortium for Teacher Preparation in Special Education Adapted Curriculum: Supporting Students with Severe Disabilities and Autism (ACSD Consortium). The ACSD Consortium is comprised of George Mason University; Radford University; James Madison University; Virginia Commonwealth University; and Old Dominion University. The program is designed to accelerate the training for teachers with newly-issued provisional licenses and to increase the number of fully endorsed teachers by providing training to new full-time pre-service personnel. ACSD Consortium courses will be delivered via distance formats using distance learning modalities. Tuition assistance is available.

Visual Impairments Endorsement
The Virginia Consortium for Teacher Preparation in Vision Impairment serves individuals with bachelor’s degrees who wish to become teachers of the visually impaired. Applicants need not hold a current teaching license. Coursework is delivered via distance learning modalities. George Mason University, Radford University, and Old Dominion University are participating. Special educators holding a current license in special education: general curriculum K-12 may add the adapted curriculum endorsement by taking 4 classes and a field experience, if necessary. Tuition assistance available. Classes are delivered through the ACSD Consortium at ODU.
