I am excited to share that Virginia Wesleyan University is now offering an online Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a concentration in Teacher Leadership. The program is especially designed for licensed teachers who are passionate about teaching and learning and hope to expand their careers and increase effectiveness as leaders in the profession. We hope you will share this valuable opportunity with educators in your district. The new 10-course program can be completed in as little as 16 months, and it is offered in a fully online learning environment delivered by full-time faculty in collaboration with highly qualified adjunct instructors with practical experience. The core courses in the program require teachers to take part in reflective and responsive teaching through open-minded consideration of current practices in education with a focus on contemporary reform and education research. The program is aligned to the National Competencies of Teacher Leadership and the Teacher Leader Model Standards, providing educators with the tools to become leaders in advocacy and innovation and to become change agents in their school districts and the greater educational community.
Our first session begins May 17. Courses will be taught in eight-week sessions, with opportunities to study part time during the school year and full time in the summer. Interested applicants can learn more and apply at vwu.edu/MEd, or by calling 757.320.4082 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
