Great news, everyone!
Longwood is bringing the School Librarianship Program to a location near you! We are planning a new cohort of students from the Hampton Roads area to begin Fall 2022 (mid-August start).
Whether you have always thought it would be great to be a school librarian, you are looking for a new way to share your love of education with students, or you are looking for the right way for you to get into education, this might be the path for you! Longwood’s graduate program in School Librarianship has a path for those who hold a teaching license to add on the endorsement in Library Media PK-12 or to earn a Master of Education with a concentration in School Librarianship (with endorsement). We also have an initial licensure path for those without a current teaching license to earn the masters and a teaching license with endorsement in Library Media PK-12.
Our program is hybrid in nature, with most classes including an in-person component so you can develop those relationships that are so important in education. The best part is that we come to you! We are still working to finalize the class meeting location, but the Saturday classes will likely be in the Newport News area with the remainder of the coursework completed online.
Are you intrigued and want to know more? Please explore the information in this Google Folder. In the folder, you will find a recording of the virtual interest meeting we held in March to give information about the new Hampton Roads cohort. You will also find some documents that explain our program and some specific information about your cohort.
We also invite you to explore our website for more information about our program.
The date for applying to the program for a Fall 2022 start is July 15. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like for me to contact you. We are excited to return to Hampton Roads and hope you will join us!
