Welcome to Mrs. Bynum’s 6th Grade Math Class! I am looking forward to meeting you virtually and eventually in-person! Our First Nine Weeks is off to a virtual start and it will require some adjustments from us all. I’m hoping to make this an easy transition for us. We will work together to keep the lines of communication open and increase our knowledge this school year.
This is my 13th year with Forest Glen Middle School and 6th graders. My other 7 years in education were spent teaching 7th and 8th grade math. I reside in Smithfield Va so I have about a 30 minute commute to school. It gives me time to think about my day (before the learning begins) and time to deescalate and reflect over the day’s event (on my way home).
We use an interactive notebook for all math classes. It’s important because it allows me to share information with you and it also encourages you to work and follow along with me. It’s an excellent tool for studying, creating and using strategies, and provides a road map to the instruction. We hope the interactive notebook forms as an organizational tool that helps you become an independent learner.
