The challenge and collective responsibility of ensuring all students have access to high-quality and culturally responsive teaching is one of critical importance during this COVID-19 era. This webinar on Thursday, May 28, will focus on resources, strategies, and tangible ideas at the classroom, school, and district levels that all educators can use to reach students where they are, especially those who have been historically marginalized, and empower them with the mindsets and skills necessary to experience success.

Participants will:
Better understand the types of challenges classroom, school, and district leaders are facing and the specific opportunities these leaders are seeing to address them;
Learn about equity-based strategies and tools for supporting all students in a virtual environment
Share questions and advice among a community of learners.
We’ve gathered incredible learner-centered changemakers who are ready to share their inspiration and ideas, as well as hear from you! If you believe education transformation needs to happen now and are ready to take action, join us.

Every year, educators face the challenge of supporting students who lack the prerequisite knowledge and skills needed for success in new grade-level curriculum. This problem will be exponentially worse this coming fall, as most students have missed significant direct instructional time due to school closures. To help educators face this unprecedented challenge, Solution Tree has worked with leading experts to design a three-part webinar series called Mind the Gaps.

These three interactive, 1-hour sessions will provide proven, practical actions that you can take now to plan effective supports for next fall.

SESSION 1:
Designing a Master Schedule to Target Learning Gaps Next Fall

Intervention expert Mike Mattos will discuss the three essential academic outcomes of an effective multitiered system of support and four critical actions that leaders should take to embed these supports in the school’s master schedule.

Online Toolkits and Resource Pages

More than 45 states, plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, have temporarily closed school buildings and turned to remote education to continue the important work of teaching and learning. We applaud students, families, education professionals, and administrators who are adopting new technology, innovative skills, and strategic processes to lessen the impact on our children’s education during this challenging time. We must, however, ask: how can we continue to center equity and culturally responsive-sustaining education as teaching and learning moves online?

At NYU Metro Center, we want to provide those involved with the education of our children the support they will need to answer this question and others related to it as we all navigate the rapidly changing set of circumstances brought about by COVID-19.
