There’s no question that grading evokes many emotions in teachers, administrators, parents, and students alike. For teachers, grading is one of the most difficult and troublesome aspects of teaching. Despite the challenge, grades can be valuable tools in identifying strengths and weaknesses in students’ understanding as well as communicating important information to varied stakeholders. Check your emotions for the day and join us for as we look into ways to improve our standards-based grading practices. We will focus on helping you to shift from the traditional grading game to reliable standards-based performance feedback by looking at what to grade, how to grade, and when to grade.
