Become a Cooperating Teacher or Counselor

If you said “Yes” to these questions, then becoming a Cooperating Teacher or Counselor is for YOU!

Cooperating Teachers or Counselor are needed from all levels, all content areas, and all school locations. 

Any Suffolk Public Schools full-time employee who is interested in serving as a cooperating teacher or counselor for a field-based experience placement for the next school year may apply. Once your request is submitted, your administrator will be asked to endorse your status as a fully licensed teacher or counselor on continuing contract status with a minimum of three years successful teaching experience. 

 

You may use up to 90 recertification points earned for license recertification. Some universities and colleges also offer an honorarium or stipend for your time and expertise.

 

Any interested teacher or school counselor is required to apply each year regardless of current or previous status.
