Building with STEM Structures
July 11-14, 2016
Registration Fee: $100.00
Students will bridge science, technology, engineering, and math by building various types of structures. Through hands-on activities and team work, students will build different structures to learn about forces, materials, equilibrium, design processes, construction, historical perspectives, structural engineering, technological design and geometry. Some structures will be tested for destruction for observation and analysis of tension, compression, and shear. Limited to 20 students (Current 5th-8th graders)
Get a Grip on STEM with Robotics
August 1-4, 2016
Registration Fee: $150.00
Students will build a robotic arm (theirs to keep) and bring science, technology, engineering, and math to life. Through hands-on activities and team work, students will create and operate robotic arms to get a grip on hydraulics, Simple machines, robotics, team work, physics, engineering, Cartesian coordinate systems, basic programming, and more. Limited to 16 students (Current 5th-8th graders)

The Big Blue Summer Camp is an 8-week day camp for boys and girls ages 6-12 and is an American Camp Association® accredited camp. Big Blue Summer Camp focuses on helping campers develop friendship skills, independence, teamwork, family citizenship, competence, interest in exploration, responsibility, affinity for nature and confidence in problem solving. Every week campers will participate in the following activities: swimming, rock-wall, arts & crafts, and general fun & games. Some weeks will include a field trip to some local attractions. Hampton University is the setting for over 21 special programs during the summer. These programs provide valuable enrichment and academic opportunities for participants of all ages.
