Late Guidance Night

ATTENTION: This event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 27th, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Lakeland High School Guidance Department is hosting a Late Guidance Night on Tuesday, December 15th, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All counselors will be available by appointment to assist parents, guardians, and students during these hours. Amount: scholarships range from $1,500 – $18,000

Criteria: You must be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States who is under the age of 20, and is enrolled in a public, private, parochial, military, or home school.

Amount: Varies

Eligibility Criteria: You must be a graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 2.2, who plans to attend a college or university, and must pay a one-time non-refundable fee of $125. You are also required to type an essay (not to exceed 500 words), as well as provide one letter of recommendation.

Scholarship Fair (September 26th & 27th, 2015)

Scholarship Sharing and Tidewater Community College will host a two day Scholarship Fair on Saturday September 26 and Sunday September 27, 2015 from 12-5 pm each day at the Tidewater Community College Student Center located at 1428 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322.

 

During the Scholarship Fair students and their families will network to learn about college funding options such as scholarships, fellowships, and grant programs to help offset educational costs from 60 nonprofit foundation representatives. A section of the fair will be dedicated to college aid opportunities for military service members, their spouses and children. In addition students can learn about the scholarship opportunities at Tidewater Community College and 12 of its partner universities. Presentations on finding and applying to scholarships will also be conducted every thirty minutes of the event in both English and Spanish.

 

General admission is free, and students, teachers, and parents are encouraged to attend. The event will be open to all high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. The fair will provide information on scholarship opportunities for students to finance an education at any community college, or university of their choice.

Scholarship Hub is a new, local resource for high school seniors to locate scholarships. This central site includes some of the same financial assistance opportunities found on your high school guidance departments’ pages but can be searched by criteria, such as career, college major, GPA, and extracurricular activities.
