Dual Credit Offerings at the Pruden Center

Information on Virginia Colleges

Students and parents might find the information resources of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) of use in planning for college and careers. SCHEV has created an institutional profile for each Virginia public college and university, and for each independent college or university participating in the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant Program. Click here for that information.

Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment contracts are available in the Guidance Department. Students who took the Virginia Placement Test in April with Mrs. Coley in the library have their contracts, however extras are available. The first payment for class is due August 7, 2017. Some classes will be taught at LHS or NRHS or online. Contact Mrs. Coley in Guidance if you have any questions.

Dual Enrollment Update

Students interested in taking dual enrollment courses next year should sign up in the Guidance Office to take the Virginia Placement Test. Students will complete the application to PDCCC with Ms. Coley on April 3 and then take the placement test on April 24, 2017. The sign up sheet is in the Guidance Office. Also, any student interested in taking summer classes at PDCCC should see Ms. Coley. Classes offered in the summer are listed below in the flyer.

There will be a dual enrollment information session held on February 28, 2017 at 6:30 PM in the KFHS auditorium for parents and students who are interested in taking dual enrollment courses for the 2017-2018 school year.

CST 100 Opportunity

PDCCC will be offering an online CST 100 class (Principles of Public Speaking) for Spring 2017, and our high school students are getting first dibs on the slots.  These will go fast!  This course is required for both the General Education Certificate and the Associates of Arts and Sciences, General Studies degree. Interested students please see Ms. Coley.

Interested in Taking Dual Enrollment Classes Next Year?

Interested in earning college credit while in high school? The Dual Enrollment (DE) program may be for you! The Dual Enrollment Coordinator, Ms. Pellegrin, from Paul D. Camp Community College will be at KFHS on November 18, 2016 from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM to answer any questions regarding the DE program. Sign up for an appointment time in the Guidance Office. Parents are also encouraged to sign up. Call or email Ms. Coley for further questions.

5. Virginia Credit Union

The Virginia Credit Union Scholarship program was established to help Virginia Credit Union members work towards their first undergraduate degree.


1.  Member be a primary member of Virginia Credit Union

2. Must be a graduating high school senior

3. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Scholarship amount: Up to $2,500

4. Lee-Jackson Educational Foundation Scholarship

Eighteen scholarships will be awarded statewide to Virginia high school juniors and seniors submitting original, analytical essays on any aspect positive or negative of the career, character, or legacy of General Robert E. Lee and/or General “Stonewall” Jackson.  Scholarships  up to $2,000 will be awarded to the winners.

3. Harry F. Byrd Scholarship

The Harry F. Byrd Leadership award recognizes students who demonstrate academic accomplishment and who also embody excellence of character, leadership and good citizenship.  Award winners will receive $10,000.

King’s Fork High School can select one (1) student to submit to the state-wide Award Selection Committee.
