Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year

28 09 2016

The 2016-17 school year brings many changes to the King’s Fork IB program.  We welcome three new teachers to the program:  Ms. Jamie Slabaugh (Pre-Diploma 9th Grade English), Ms. Heather Kneisler (Pre-Diploma 10th Grade English), and Ms. Zoe Kilduff (Pre-Diploma Spanish & Spanish ab initio).  In addition, Ms. Maria Ojeda-Rivera, who teaches IB Spanish B HL & SL,  is now also our CAS supervisor.

In addition to the staffing changes, we have also made structural changes to two courses.  First we changed IB Chemistry SL from a one year to a two year course.  Second, we have structured the Junior/Senior TOK course so that one semester is TOK focused and the other is Extended Essay/CAS focused.

Finally, we also start the year with a new coordinator.  I am taking over as coordinator after teaching for the past 10 years in the IB program at another local high school.  By Friday, September 30th students should bring home a letter to parents introducing me and letting you know the best ways to contact me.

I wish all students in our program much success this year.  Any questions or concerns can be emailed to me at, or you can call me at (757) 923-5240, ext. 571132.
