I’ve upgraded WordpressMU (WPMU), the software behind the SPS blog server, to the latest and greatest version. WPMU 1.3 brings us some new features and bug fixes. Heres a list of some of the more interesting changes:

Tagging - Attach keywords, or tags, to your posts
Advanced WYSIWYG - More formatting options when writing or editing posts
Improved Post Management - Search and filter posts in your dashboard

Blog Spam

I’ve installed a plugin on the server to hopefully cut down on some of the blog spam that we’ve started receiving. Users that are not logged in (Students & Parents) will have to enter a ’security word’ when they comment on a post. Its not the most elegant solution, but it should keep the spam out for now.

Leave a comment on this post if you are still getting spam and I’ll look into it.

Minor Upgrade

The blog server received a minor upgrade last night. The upgrade didn’t add any new features, but fixed some outstanding bugs. Let me know if you come across any issues.

New home theme

I’m sure you noticed the new theme on the main site today. I’ve placed everything you need for moving around the site in the menu at the top of each page. I’ve also added a recent post section that aggregates all new post from the blogs we host on this server. The new theme started as Sleepy Blue. I changed the logo and tweaked a few colors to match the blue from the SPS logo.
