Class Rules

  • Students must sit quietly during the morning announcements.
  • Students must abide the moment of silence by staying silent and in their seats.

Starting Class

  • Every class begins with a 5-10 minute bellringer.  As soon as you come to class, sit down, take out your materials, and be prepared to start as soon as the bell rings.  When time is up, the assignment is removed and extra time is not given.

  • Bring your materials to class.  You will not be allowed back to your locker to get class materials.
  • Students will remain in their seats unless given permission to stand.  Keep trash on your desk until it is time to pack up, and throw it in the trash cans (trash and recycling) as you go out of the door.
  • Do not place trash, papers, or other objects inside of the desks.
  • When using the restroom, sign out and take the clipboard.  Remember to return with the clipboard.
    • Only one student may be out at a time.
    • Students cannot leave the room for 15 minutes at the start and end of class.
  • There is to be no talking or socializing during lesson or discussion time.  When paired or working on group work, students may collaborate.
  • Respect the spaces of others– keep your hands to yourself.
  • This is a “no bully” area– bullying with not be tolerated.
  • Class and homework are due on their due dates.  Penalties incur afterward.

  • Lunch is 30 minutes.  Regardless of when we go, we will always have 30 minutes.
  • We file to the cafeteria in a quiet straight line.
    • Keep your hands to yourself.
    • No running.
    • Stay in line.
      • If filing procedure is not followed, we will return to the class and attempt again the proper way to file down the hallway.
  • Clean up the table after you are done eating.
  • Line up in a straight and quiet line outside of the cafeteria.  We will return to the class in a straight and quiet file.

IMPORTANT: You are responsible for your work and your materials.

Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year

World Geography

Mrs. Dalton

Welcome to the 2018-2019 year of 8th grade World Geography, a class designed not only to teach essential map skills, but to investigate world history and culture.

Below is the list of required materials for World Geography

  • 1 or 2 inch binder
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Pens/pencils
  • Colored pens/markers/crayons
  • Dry erase markers
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Glue/glue stick

For art supplies, we use class sets to make sure all students have access to materials. That is why I ask for donations from generous parents who have the resources to help our classroom.  We take donations of the supplies listed above (arts and craft supplies, glue, pencils, and loose paper are always in great need), as well as: construction paper, facial tissues, hand sanitizer, and Lysol disinfecting wipes.

Please take time to bookmark the class blog:

Updates on class activities and schedules will be posted on the class blog.

Please try to contact me via email (valorietucker@spsk12.net)—I answer emails repeatedly throughout the day in the morning, during planning, and after school.

If calling, please do not call during school hours.  I never distribute my home or cell phone number, and I do not text with parents.
