This week we will begin a new theme called “Let’s Move!” We will learn about movement. We will read stories about the different ways we move, such as running, skipping, sliding, and jumping. We will also practice moving in many ways. The new letter this week is Jj. Please continue to review all of the letters and letter sounds we have learned so far. They are expected to know all of their letters (uppercase and lowercase) and most letter sounds by the time they go to kindergarten in the fall. Constant review of the letters will help your child to learn and memorize them. Please continue to practice having your child write his/her name since this is expected when they enter kindergarten. (You can have them practice writing their last name if they have mastered their first name.)
*Jumping Jack or Jill – Make a stick puppet. Tell your child that the figure is Jumping Jack or Jill and that he/she likes the letters Jj. Look for Jjs in newspaper and magazine headlines with your child. Have him/her make the puppet “jump” each time he/she sees Jj.
*Practice counting to 20 and recognizing numbers 0-10.
*Wednesday, March 13 from 8:00 – 5:00 at your child’s home school
*Each Early Start student must register for kindergarten next year.
*Bring: Birth certificate, physical form, immunization record, and proof of residency. (If you need more information, please let me know)
