Yesterday, we worked primarily on pairing our writing with the literature.  One of the key objectives at the high school level is to write analytically about literature, so we developed a chart of imagery related to death (from “The Scarlet Ibis”) and then students wrote a paragraph integrating the quotes into a paragraph about the mood of the story.  I provided the students with a model paragraph.  This will be a classwork grade.

Then we introduced “The Necklace” with a video and discussed how society viewed women quite differently in the 1880′s in Paris, France.

We finished class by reviewing direct and indirect objects.
