Week 18

Well, I’m sure everyone has enjoyed these extra days out of school, but we have to hit the ground running when we get back!  Our math benchmark is on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, so we have work to review, new work to cover, and lots of classwork and small group practice, practice, practice. We will have a math test on the skills we have learned thus far this week on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.  This would include Order of Operations (5.7), Patterns (new 5.18, old 5.17), Variables (new 5.19, old 5.18), Fractions as well as comparing and ordering fractions and decimals (5.2), and Fraction Word Problems (5.6).

I have posted the weekly homework above (all subjects), which will all be due on Friday, January 12, 2018.

We will begin the Road to the Revolution PBA, and, hopefully, finish it this week.  Students will create a book for children based on the American Revolution, which must include a diary entry from both King George III and George Washington.

In reading, we will continue to prepare for the benchmark on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, and will work on text structure as well as read a fictional selection from StoryWorks as we continue to work on character traits, motivations, and plot. We will begin new small group novels and continue with our class novel (and Battle of the Books entry) Making Bombs for Hitler.
In writing we will work on adjective comparisons and quotation marks in dialogue.
