Week 28

invitation

Is this invitation for you?

This week you will take the third nine weeks’ math benchmark, on Thursday, March 23, 2017.  The SOLs that will be included on this benchmark are as follows:  SOL 5.5 decimal addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, SOL 5.7 Order of Operations, SOL 5.19 Distributive Property, SOL 5.4 Single and multi-step word problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, SOL 5.3/5.90 Prime/Composite, Odd/Even numbers and divisibility, SOL 5.6 single and multi-step word problems with fractions and mixed numbers, and SOL 5.2 Ordering fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals.

On Monday and Tuesday we will work in stations to review all of these SOLs, and Wednesday, after we return from the field trip to the Virginia Symphony, we will review the answers for all of these problems.

In reading we will work on cause and effect with a StoryWorks article, compare and contrast with the same StoryWorks, this time a story, and we will review the story elements (plot) with the book Where the Wild Things Are.  We will also work on fact and opinion with a football worksheet.

In writing we will work on interjections, double negatives, and comma usage.

The only homework you have this week is in social studies.  For this use Interactive Notebook pages 24 and 25 (read) and page 26 to answer questions.  Your questions must be answered in COMPLETE sentences to receive full credit!  A copy of IAN page 26 is posted above in weekly homework.

Remember that Wednesday is the field trip to the Virginia Symphony at Christopher Newport University.  We will leave school at about 10:30 a.m. and have lunch in the classroom when we return.

Check your email to see if you are invited to the dessert celebration on Friday, March 24, 2017.  If you completed all homework assignments for weeks 21 – 25 you were cordially invited.

We have two winners who successfully completed the Idita-Hunt!  They will have ice cream tomorrow in the classroom.  Again, check your email for an invitation.  Way to go ladies!
