Letter Zz Week!
This week we will continue our theme “Animals Everywhere”. Letter Zz is our new letter this week – please practice identifying the letter Zz on signs, magazines, etc. and review the sound Zz makes. We will discuss zoo animals, as well as baby animals and living vs. non-living things.
Please continue to review all letters learned so far (S,T,P,O X, Y,U,W,F,A). We are getting there! Please continue working on identifying numbers and counting, as well as name-writing (if your child can write his/her first name, move on to last name.)
Reading Skills
We will continue to work on the sight words “I” and “like” by making sentences “I like ____.” We will practice writing the words and identifying them.
Home Activities
Zz Collage – write Zz at the top of a large piece of paper. Help your child find Zz and pictures of objects whose names begin with Zz in magazines or catalogs. Glue them onto the paper. You can also draw your own pictures of Zz objects. If you do a collage, please send it in to share with the class.
Animal Homes – your child will listen to a story titled “Who’s in Rabbit’s House?” Ask him/her to tell you who was in Rabbit’s house. Read other books about animals with you child. Point out and discuss the different places where the animals live. If you have a good animal book at home, please send it in so I can read it to the class. I’m always looking for good books to share!
