Algebra! Algebra! Algebra!

January 5th, 2008

You’ve been asking…and now it is here!  We are ready to start doing Algebra!  I did a few problems in class last week and you all seemed to grasp the concept pretty quickly!  That’s great!  What I want to know in this blog (for 5 points of extra credit!) is what are your strengths or weaknesses in Algebra?  How can I help?  Do you have a question that I just don’t seem to answer in class?  How is Algebra useful to your everyday life?  We all know that we are the number one math class at John F. Kennedy Middle School and I want us to stay that way!  Let’s keep working hard and get great scores on the nine weeks test…coming on January 23!  Don’t forget that tutoring is offered at least twice a week and I am here for you!

We rock, We rock, We can’t be stopped.

We roll, We roll, We’re in control.

We go to school and get our work done,

We all know that we are #1!

Keep up the great work guys!  I am so proud of all that you are accomplishing!  I know that you are going to show everyone just how fantastic you are!

Who Is This Person Who Calls Herself My Teacher?

August 23rd, 2007

My name is Jennifer Del-Castillo and I will be your sixth grade math teacher this year!  I was born in Tennessee and then moved to Mississippi after graduating from high school.  I also graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in public relations and communication management.  After moving to Virginia in 2001, I decided to return to school and earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a master’s degree in Elementary Education, PreK - 6.

I am married to Dennis Del-Castillo from Lima, Peru.  We have been married for seven years and have a three-year old son named Alex.  I know that you will learn a lot about them both throughout the year.  We live in Virginia Beach.

Occasionally, they allow me to leave the school and I love to work in my scrapbooks, go to the beach and go to dinner with friends.  It is very important to me to maintain good, loyal friendships and I hope that you will do the same.

So, now that I have told you all about me…I want to know all about you.  For your first assigment, I want you to respond to my blog.  Tell me three things about yourself, two things that you are looking forward to this year and one thing you are concerned about  this year.  This must be posted to the blog no later than September 18, 2007.  If you need help, please let me know!

We are going to have a great year and we are going to do it together!

 Mrs. Del-Castillo
