**Upcoming in the classroom**  December 12-20, we will have the “7 Days Before Winter Break” themed activities. Each day will be a different theme of winter symbols, traditions, and countries that celebrate holidays at this time of year. We will unwrap the special gift each day to see what the next day will bring. I will DoJo you each day to let you know. I will also write it on the calendar for those of you who do not have DoJo. This will be a fun and exciting time of learning and exploring with our fabulous firsties!

The only events that might require volunteers is Tuesday, December 20. That will be Gingerbread Houses and Polar Express day (SHHHH! don’t tell the kiddos!)

Reading:  We will be reading stories on sequence and take a comprehension test on Friday. We will be taking our local reading benchmark Wednesday, December 2.  A new homework menu is in the red folder.

Math: We are finishing fractions and will assess later this week.

Science:  We are working with force and motion. Force is a push or a pull. Motion is how things move (circular, back and forth, and straight). We will investigate force and motion and how it affects objects this week and assess next week.

Social Studies:  We are finishing maps. We will construct basic maps and discuss what is needed this week. We will assess next week.

Notes: PTA is having Holiday Shopping for kids December 12-16. Students can purchase items during their resource times. Look for information going home this week (“Penguin Patch”).

December 10:  Breakfast with Santa        8:30-10AM       $5 per person   pre-order a Chick Fil A biscuit;  enjoy fruit as well as decorate a cookie with Santa. A photographer will be on hand for pictures with Santa for purchase.

December 10:  2nd Annual Winter Bazaar                   10-2PM                free                  Vendors and crafters will have items available for purchase.
