Reading:  We are finishing our review unit from our reading series. Our word skills this week are print knowledge, titles and pictures, and short vowels. We are working on capitalization and punctuation in writing.

Math: We are working on subtraction facts. We take our benchmark test Monday morning.

Science:  We are working on natural resources. We will assess next Friday and review the rest of the nine weeks. Our nine weeks test is scheduled for November 4.

Social Studies:  We will begin timelines and past/present/future/change. Students need to know past, present, and future and recognize the changes in transportation, family life, schools, and communities. The vocabulary words associated with this SOL are on the study guide. Look for the timeline project information in the red folder on October 24th. Timeline projects are due November 7.  Students should be prepared to present their project that day. Our nine weeks’ benchmark is scheduled for November 1.

Notes:  Science Circus will be Monday, October 31, from 2:00-3:30. We will do many experiments with pumpkins. Approved volunteers are always welcome. If you would like to donate a pumpkin, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
