THIS POST WILL COUNT TOWARD COMPLETING YOUR SUMMER ASSIGNMENT.

Hi Ms. Story,
I got all 6 questions right. They were actually kinda easy when you think about them.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Sharryl,
Yup … not too tough of a quiz. But, still pretty amazing to think about all the plastic used in our life. Once I looked around the classroom and thought, “what happened if all the plastic disappeared … what would be left in the room?”

Hi Ms. Story,
Is plastic really in your food? That’s still circling my brain. It was a choice on the first question, but the answer was all of the above, and they didn’t say whether it was on the explanation. If so, plastic is delicious! What’s with all of those poly- words? That quiz taught alot too. Who knew you could “grow” plastic? I guess there wouldn’t be much if it wasn’t for plastic, huh? Bye Ms. Story!

Julius … you are right about the abundance of plastic. Not much left without it these days!

Ah! I got 5 out of 6 right. I got the one where it said that not all triangles with numbers in them can be recycled. I didn’t know that! (well we learn something new everyday though…) Hm, it IS wierd though how we EAT plastic, sounds gross!

I think plastic has many different uses and i guess has contributed alot to the world im used to. Before this quiz i wasnt aware of all of the ways plastic is apart of my life. In my 7th grade class at Jfk we did a sim city project on the enviorment and made models of future cities and what would be helpful for the enviorment. Thier were underground cities, a city in a bubla cities in the sky. While we were researching we learned that it takes millions of years for plastic bags to decompose in landfills and over that years that could fill up the landfills and be harmful to the enviorment. THats why some stores like Farm Fresh and Walmart have come out with the cloth bags. Just wanted to let you kno lol…

Ms. Stroy,
sorry it took me so long to blog back. i’m almost finished my projects though and i’m soooo glad.
August 22nd, 2008 at 4:10 pm
I never realized how important plastic is!! It’s everywhere! I thought it was pretty cool that you can actually “grow” plastic! I also think it’s sad that not all the plastic that is collected to be recycled is NOT actually ALWAYS recycled.

Hi Ms. Story,
I got all 6 out of 6 questions right, but the quiz was definitly fun and very different. Sorry for posting so late, I’m just now getting around to my biology work. I look forward to your class during the school year, see you then.

How much do you know about plastics? I realized when completing the quiz that I was incorrectly informed (II) about the number inside the recycling triangle. When I was in the second grade, I went on a field trip to the Airfield
4-H center in Wakefield, VA. The tour guide told us that the number inside the triangle indicated how long it would take for the plastic to deteriorate. Truly, it’s like what they say “you live and you learn”.
P.S. I enjoyed the quiz so much that I also took the one on “saving gas”.
August 22nd, 2008 at 6:45 pm
The plastics quiz was not that difficult. However, I missed the question on the number in the triangle. I referred to my prior knowledge from a second grade field trip and found out that I had been misinformed. Wow, you really do “live and learn”.

Hi D’Shawna,
Glad you learned something about the triangle on plastics. Glad you took the saving gas quiz … how did you do?
Hey Mako,
I know what you mean about being surprised that not all is recycled even though it lands in a recycling bin. I think it’s hard to imagine how much money and how complex it is to recycle things … especially plastics!
Hi Alana,
Thanks for sharing with us about the cloth bags. For my ecology class last year I went onto Amazon.com and bought several of the different kinds of reusable grocery bags that they have available. Some of them are pretty neat. I have them in my car now so that they are there when I stop at the grocery store. Sometimes I get some pretty funny looks when I hand the baggers a “cloth” bag for my groceries! I think they call me one of those “green ladies!”
Heather … I agree; eating plastic! YUCK!
Sharryl … Congrats on completing your assignments!

Hi again
I got 5/6. I had a hard time with the last question… and my mom laughed when she read that you can grow plastic. But that’s not the one I missed– It was #4. I really thought that you could recycle anything with the triangle and numbers on it.
August 26th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
I did pretty good on the “saving gas” quiz because I had previously heard gas saving tips on the radio. =)
August 28th, 2008 at 8:52 am
Saving Gas 100%, oh yeah…
August 28th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
hi Ms. Story!
I got a 4/6 but i only knew the answers to like 2 of them! The question that really amazed me was the last one that said that plastic could be grown!
August 30th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
WOW!! This quiz really surprised me, I never knew that so much is involved in plastic and recycling. I got a 5/6 but the one that I missed is the growing plastic question. I thought “NO WAY, this isn’t possible” but I guess that I was wrong. We learn new stuff everyday! Anyway, this quiz was educational and fun! I guess I’ll see you later.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:54 am
That quiz was really fun! I got 5 out of 6 correct. Some of that stuff really suprised me but plastic in food… I’ll never think of food the same way again!
August 31st, 2008 at 8:00 pm
wow i did not know that framers could now grow plastics, and that not all plastics that you recycle and recycled. this quiz thaught me a lot i didn’t know.
Oh sorry i posted soo late.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:08 pm
Well, that quiz was easy. Got a perfect 100% (and not using Google). I kind of knew that plastics were in nearly everything of our life, but they will soon decrease due to the rising costs of oil and the decreasing amount of it. Still, it’s hard to believe that it contributes a large amount in our landfills, when you can recycle/refill the bottle with another liquid.

Hello Mrs Story
I completed the plastic quiz and got 5 of the 6 questions. Its pretty amazing how some of the littlest things could be so big! I guess you learn stuff every single day. Plastic in my food however doesn’t sound too good =(.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:49 pm
OMG its sooooo crazy how plastic is used in our everyday life!!!!!!!
I mean who knew plastic was found in our food?!?!?!?!?! I surely didn’t!!!!!
I wonder what would happen if all the plastic in the world just went away….O.o =/
I don’t even want to think about it…
&& plastic can grow from the ground…WOW that’s crazy =]]]!!!!!
this quiz was pretty fun!!! I got 4 out of 6 right not too bad I guess =]
September 2nd, 2008 at 5:53 pm
I thought that the quiz was very interesting!
I never knew some of this stuff, but I did guess right… XD
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:39 pm
yeah, it was an interesting quiz. sum of the stuff i new, and some of it u could of guessed, like the food one. i know it’s desgusting, but they wouldn’t have put it up there if it wasn’t an answer. but some of the stuff surprised me, like the recycling symbol. i thought any thing with the sign u could recycle, so i learned sumthin
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:12 pm
i got all the questions right except the 2nd one about plastic in food. i dont have any idea what those names are supposed to be
September 11th, 2008 at 10:52 pm

that’s not good.
