THIS POST WILL QUALIFY AS A SUMMER ASSIGNMENT
August 10th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Hey again Ms. Story
Um, well I certain didn’t know some of that stuff. i got like 6 out of 8 question correct I believe. And I’m not a girl that wears make-up and after finding out that they used crushed insect wings and fish scales in some types I really don’t think I will be using it any time soon either. Ew. But I’d love to see the reaction of make-up wearing girls across the country if they found that out! That was very very interesting. Ha, sorry I just can’t get over that.
well. I’m kind of bored right now so I’m probably just gonna go play piano (i’ve been playing since I was…like 6 I think) or something. I don’t really have much to do because I’ve finished all but like one of my summer assignments and that one I hope to finish saturday. (I’m doing the “film a scene from the book” project for English so I’m trying to get everyone together for that. By the way, to anyone who’s thinking about doing that project, I really truly advise you to get friends that aren’t easily distracted to help you. Seriously.) So, I’ll talk to you later. Probably at transition. Bye!

Hi Ms. Story,
I got 7 questions out of 8 correct.
August 12th, 2008 at 8:08 am
Ms. Story,
Hello Ms. Story im sorry for not posting recently because i have been very bust with my other projects and other stuff.
I think that the quiz was very fun and different. Some of the questions really made me think. I also enjoyed the quiz because it was fun and had some facts that i didn’t really know before. My score was 8 out of 8.
August 13th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Yay! First post!
I got a 6 out of 8. I mean, come on, how am I supposed to know what they put in makeup products?
It really shows how biodiversity helps us, and how precious it is. We can’t afford to lose it, even from a consumer/corporate standpoint.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Hi Rae,
Fun to see you at transition today! It was good to see everyone. Glad I found a sister piano player!
Lucas,
Welcome to the blog. Glad to hear from you here.
Ethan G.
Good analysis on the importance of biodiversity. It is amazing what ‘living’ products are in so many of our non-living consumer goods.
Sharryl,
Nice job on the quiz. Hope it was fun.

That’s alot of stuff that I didn’t know. I knew that marshmallows were made of sugar and gelatin, but I didn’t know that they actually came from marshes. By the way, I scored a 7 out of 8 correct. I didn’t know that televisions had lead in them(that’s the one I got wrong) I don’t know about anything that happens in Massachusetts or California. Wouldn’t it be wrong to kill a shark to make medicine for people. I really liked that quiz. It taught me alot. I t would have been even better if it had more questions. Talk to you later Ms. Story!

Hi Julius,
Nice job on the quiz. You posed an interesting question, “Isn’t it wrong to kill a shark to make medicine for people?” We’ll be taking on lots of these kind of questions this year as a class. These bioethical questions are a lot tougher than the ones easily answered in a multiple choice test! (At least I think so!) What do you think?

Wow, that is a lot of stuff I didn’t know! It really says that we don’t know what goes in a lot of stuff, and people are doing a lot of harmful things to the earth that they don’t even know about! Great quiz.

Hi Ms. Story,
I got a 6 out of 8! I’m not sure if thats good or bad lol. That was very different lol. But i found out some stuff i didn’t know, like the mak-up one.

Hi Ms. Story,
I got 6 out of 8 correct. Wow, I was really suprised! I would have never thought that animal products are in potato chips. I guess things are really not always what they seem! Still, it was really fun.
August 22nd, 2008 at 4:03 pm
So I was surprised with some of those questions. I got a 6 out of 8. The makeup one stumped me! I agree with Ravynn, that’s sooooo disgusting! haha.
August 22nd, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Hello Ms. Story,
I sadly got 4 out of 8 questions correct… But the test was very original and interesting. I hope we do more activites like this one during the school year. Also, sorry for posting this late, I’m just now getting around to my biology work.

Hello~
I got 7/8 too. When I got to the last question, I thought, “Oh yeah, it’s definitely going to be old issues of the National Inquirer.” Just kidding, I chose television sets. And I knew that marshmallows are made out of sugar and gelatin, but my dad used to say they were ground up horse hooves… blegh! Anyway, that was fun!

It seems I know nothing. I got I 50%! Some of these thigs I wold have never known if I ddn’t take that test.
August 25th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Hi Students … seems that I got a little behind. We’ve had lots of teacher meetings the past 3 days and I’ve missed keeping up with my blogging! Sorry!
Okay, let me get going …
Hi Ron,
I’m sure you know LOTS! On this test, 50% is just fine. Glad you took it.
Hi Rebecca,
Good job on the quiz! FYI — my Dad told me that jello had horse hoofs in it! Why do Dads say these things?!? HA. lol!
Hi Seth,
Glad to have you on the blog!
Hey Mako,
I must admit that I try not to think about that one question when I put on my make-up in the AM!
Hi Craig,
Glad you learned some new info. Potato chips might never seem the same - ha.
Hi Matt,
Now that you know about make up, I’m sure you’re pretty glad you don’t have to think about ever using it!
Hi Heather,
So glad you liked the quiz.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:47 am
I got 8/8…fish scales in lipstick…yuck.
August 29th, 2008 at 7:35 am
Hi Mr. Parsons,
Aren’t you glad that lipstick is not on your ‘need to wear’ list!
Thanks for visiting us!

I got 6 out of 8 questions right! This is the weirdest test I’ve ever taken. I was really surprised that pigs, fungi and bacteria are used to make our pizza! This makes me think twice about ordering Dominos for now on. I guess biodiversity really does apply to our lives. Sorry for posting late but this is the last thing I have to do before I’m done with everything! See you September 2nd!
August 31st, 2008 at 7:53 pm
wow i did not know they used fish scales and insect wings to make make-up…. now i don’t know how i’ll think when i look at mine. Bu twow i didn’t know some of these things i got 5 out of 8 correct. It’s cool to find out these interesting facts about these things.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Mrs. Story,
I answered 7 of the 8 questions correctly. Some of the information in the questions were pretty gross. I hope I don’t get sick soon because wat is made into medicines is nasty! And I doubt I will ever touch another potato chip again.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:03 pm
WOW!!!! that quiz was mega interesting lol!!!!
I NEVER knew that insect wings and fish scales were found in Nail polish!!! I mean I had to find that out just when I was about to paint my finger nails!!!=] =/ lucky me haha
Well I got 6 out of 8 right!! thats pretty good I guess
September 1st, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Ms. Story… looking at GradeSpeed I realize that I missed the introductory post. I don’t know where it goes so I’m adding it here, since it is still summer I hope this is okay. My name is Matthew Hommell. My interests are SPORTS! I am a quarterback on our football team, a catcher on our baseball team, and I wrestle at the 152 weight class. I have 2 brothers, one older, one younger and a sisters who is the youngest. I look forward to IB and hope I do well.

that quiz was very easy. i got a 7/8. most of that stuff was common sense
September 4th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
that quiz was very interesting I found out a few things that know before.
September 4th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
Wow alot of people have mentioned the truth about make-up and the funny thing about that is that these days many girls glopp that mess on their face ’till they look like clowns! I agree with Rae, it would be hilarious to watch prissy girls flip out that their top-of-the-line make-up is fish scales and insects…
What’s wrong girls? Don’t like fish? lol
Good stuff indeed
Brandon
P.S. I have now completed all of the required Biology summer projects if I’m not mistaken…
September 4th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Oh yea…I forgot to post my score!
I got 6 out of 8

Hey Ms. Story
Wow i was so surprised when i took that quiz, mainly because i got them all right although i guessed on a couple of them. But if i do say so myself it was a really strange quiz.
