Welcome to Room 206

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome back to 8th Grade English/Literature and World Geography after the summer break! I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer. I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I’m looking forward to a happy, productive, and successful school year.

Curriculum areas we will focus on include English and Literature.

My homework policy is homework will be assigned daily for extra practice which will reinforce what is being studied in class.

My grading policy is based on rubrics which will be given out with each “creative” assignment.

My expectations of the students will be mentioned before each activity.  There will be rewards as well as consequences for misbehaviors.

There will be progress reports and report cards sent home every 9 weeks.  I believe it is important to keep the parents up to date with all that is happening in the classroom and school.

Studies show that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. We hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school-sponsored events as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer to help out, you can contact me at daracohen-stout@spsk12.net or (757) 934-6212.

Once again, welcome to 8th Grade English/Literature and World Geography. Let’s work together to make the 2014-2015 the best year ever!

Mrs. Stout
