Book Fair Volunteers

Volunteer to help at the Book Fair.
We NEED volunteers!!! We need YOU!!!

Volunteering at the book fair is the perfect way to stay connected to your child at school and helps other students find the right book. Everyone loves to read! If they think they do not, they have not found the right book yet, so help that student find the right book and discover the joy of reading.

There are lots of ways to participate. You can decorate, set up, help kids select books or help pack up. Stop by the library to sign up, or e-mail

We look forward to seeing you at the book fair!

Welcome to the John Yeates Middle School Library

Welcome to The Library
Welcome back to a new school year Chargers! We’re excited to meet our new 6th graders and to welcome back our rising 7th and 8th graders! We look forward to seeing all of you in the library and hearing about the great books you read over the summer!  We already have over 100 new books ready to circulate and at least that many more almost ready. Information about book clubs and library helpers will be announced soon!
As the library is getting ready for check-outs, don’t forget to clear up your account from any past fines or checkouts!   Students who owe a book or have fines over $4.00 will not be able to check out books until their account is cleared.  You can sign into Destiny (the library catalog) in school and at home, so you can view your account anytime!

We look forward to seeing you all soon!

How to use the FollettShelf App

brightwave2One of the great new things that our library now offers are over 800 e-books via FollettShelf.

This is in addition to the hundreds of others we have through MackinVia and Tumblebooks.

Curious as to how to read them on your device?  Here’s the scoop:

1) Download and install “BryteWave K-12 Edition” app from the App store, Google Play, or the Amazon App store

2) Launch the mobile app.

3) Enter your User Name and Password. This is the same user name and password that you use to sign onto a school computer.

4) Enter the Follett Shelf URL, which is:

5) If you are on a private/safe/secure device and want to skip steps C and D next time you access the mobile app, put a check-mark in the “Stay logged in” box.

You should now be all logged in to download books to your device.

You can now “check-out” titles to your account.  HOWEVER, in order to read the books off-line (or at school), you must also download the book to your device while still connected to the internet.

The book will return automatically in 14 days or you can return the book early.  If you do finish the book early, please try to “return” it so that others may read it.

Click here to view a user-friendly guide to both the online and app versions of FollettShelf.

If you have any further questions about reading the e-books online or with a device, stop by the library to speak to one of the librarians!
