Check out the History’s Heroes link for free games, review, and resources about famous Americans.  Remember we learn about 36 famous Americans, this review will be very helpful to each child in the class.  It also has some really fun games on it.

It is great to be back from break.  The fifth graders have been very busy doing projects to wrap up the second nine week grading period.  As we have been working I have noticed that many students have little or no supplies.  Please replenish your child’s supplies.  This includes items such as pencils, glue, scissors, crayons or colored pencils.  Many students have lost their scissors and rulers.  It is very difficult to complete activities in the classroom when the students do not have supplies.  Many students are also running very low on page protectors for their interactive notebooks.  These page protectors are very helpful in keeping each child organized, please check with your child to see if they need supplies.

  •  Thank you for your assistance in this.

Look under pages in the side bar and click on the Social Studies page.  Here you will find a great study guide for the information we have learned from the first and second nine weeks.  If you have lost notes or accidentally thrown anything away these notes can replace them.  These are also helpful for any parents who need to brush up on our social studies.  Just click on the underlined link and the file will download to your computer.  You can print it from there.  Remember to check often for updated information.  I will post the new information as we learn it.

I hope you enjoy your winter break from December 21st -January 1st.  School is back in session on Wednesday January 2nd.  Over break students are required to bring home their binders in all subjects(Social studies, Science, Math, and Reading).  They need to take some time to review the work we have done so far this year.  Students should be prepared to take a review test in all subjects when they return.  I hope you all enjoy your break, I will see you in 2008. ~Mrs. Neufer

Check out Mrs. Neufer’s Portaportal for great review games in all subjects.  Just click on portaportal in the blog roll.  When you get to the site type “Neufer” into the guest box.  That will give you access to use my favorite sites. Which one is your favorite?  Let me know if you found a great educational site that you think should be added to my portaportal.

We started measurement in class today.  Several students do not have rulers or protractors.  Please check with your child and send in the appropriate supplies.

  • What type of measurement would you use to weigh an elephant?
  • What type of measurement would you use to measure a paper clip?
  • Do you know how tall you are?
