If you were absent last Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, be sure to make up Vocabulary Quiz 4 by the end of THIS WEEK!

Anyone who would like to may come and make corrections to the worksheet (quiz grade) on “The Pardoner’s Tale) for an improved grade.

Vocabulary Quiz 5 will be on 12/10-11.

bring in your textbooks…so you won’t be billed lots and lots of money (and so I’ll feel like my students are responsible

AND

return anything you may have borrowed or accidentally taken home… like school copies of Lord of the Flies, or one of my journal pictures, or my Julius Caesar shortcut books…or anything else!

Work on your essay  (bring pre-writing and a rough draft) and get a good night’s sleep before your exam.  Those are the best things you can do to prepare.  The definitions from the Powerpoint warm-ups will help you, too, so you can bring them if I’ve passed them back to you.  Most of the test is reading comprehension.

…oh, and if you don’t want your copy of Lord of the Flies, I’ll give you extra credit if you give it to me.  Keep it if you want it, but it would be helpful for us to have a few extra next year.

Congratulations; you’re almost finished!

1)  Turn in your journal! If you didn’t turn it in today, I’d better have it by Friday!!!!!!!!

2)  Informational materials:  read and discuss pages 916-919 in the Literature book and complete the accompanying worksheet.  (You’ll need to get this one from me if you missed it.)

3)  Finish reading Chapter 8 in LotF (and begin Ch. 9).

4)  Questions covering Chapters 7 and 8 of LotF are due next class.

*Our culminating assignment on Lord of the Flies will be an essay addressing the theme.  Continue as you read to make note of characters and events that support Golding’s assertion that man is in his essence evil (or stated differently, there is a struggle between civilization and savagery within man).
