I’ve posted an online project for 3rd grade to the web. The students will write a newspaper article (the prompt given is related to Simple Machines) and then generate an image of their article that looks like a newspaper clipping. (Please thank Mrs. Williams for the prompt!)

Here is the link.

I posted a mini-review of continents, oceans, and some geography vocabulary (e.g. latitude, longitude, equator, prime meridian, compass rose, etc.), to the web. The review consists of multiple screens (the navigation icons are at the top of each screen) - some of the screens are strictly informational, and others are multiple choice assessment screens. The review course includes images and sound and is best viewed with a screen resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels. Here is the link:

Microsoft has made a nice little set of instructions for creating a distribution in Outlook 2007, but there are no pretty screen shots to go along with it. If you like to have images to go along with your instructions, just donwload the word document below.

Here is the link to the Microsoft site for instructions - just the text. If you prefer instructions with screenshots, click here instead to download the word document.

Note: Please forgive the sadly shaped arrows on the word document…I was using the ancient Paint program because it was all I had access to at the time…

I’ve added a Prefix/Suffix game to the list of 5th grade games. This is a “Hoop-Shoot” game in which the player has to correctly answer questions for a chance to make a basket. A single player can complete a timed challenge or play a regular game. There is also an option for a two player game. Here is the link (the English game is at the bottom of the screen):

Have fun!

Okay, several people have expressed concern about not being able to open documents at home that have been emailed to them or that they have found on the internet because they have been created with Office 2007 - and they have an earlier version of Office at home. Well, Microsoft has got you covered on that!

You can download a Compatibility Pack (link below) for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 file formats that will allow Office 2003 and 2000 to open those files. Microsoft asks that you please install all High-Priority updates from Microsoft Update before downloading the Compatibility Pack.

Then you can head on over here and download the Compatability Pack.

Hope this helps!

I guess I should have just made one post for Geography instead of breaking this down to one for World Geography and one for US Geography, but…

Anyway, this site (below) allows students to complete a tutorial on states and capitals, then allows them to assess their knowledge from the beginner level to the expert level. There are also games about rivers and oceans. The students can also drag a drop the states into the correct location on a blank map.
