I wanted to give you a few date reminders. This Friday, December 2, 2016 is career dress up day. Please have your child dress up as what they would like to be when they grow up. They cannot wear costumes, such as Spiderman or Elsa. Please keep it career related.
Today is the last day of the nine weeks. Report cards will be distributed soon. Please continue to check you child’s work that comes home and remember that homework is due every Friday. We only have three days in school this week. We are out on Tuesday and Friday. I still do not have everyone’s email. If you have not received any correspondence from me through email please contact the office and give them your email address. Have a great week. Happy Voting!
A yellow flyer was sent home titled: Helping Your Child Learn to Read! This is an informational session on ways to help your child learn to read. It is Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Nansemond Parkway in the Library. It will be held from 6:30 – 7:30, please plan on attending. If you have any questions you can contact Ms. Tawnya Vogel at 923-4167.
As far as classroom news: Study sight words nightly with your child. The current sight words and the old sight words need to be included. Homework is due every Friday, please hold on to it until then.
It sometimes gets chilly in the class, if you would like to send in a small, light weight jacket in your child’s bookbag you may. They will be able to get it when needed.
The end of the nine weeks is creeping up. Read your child’s comments on their papers to see if they are in need of some extra home practice.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Relax and enjoy the beautiful weather that we are suppose to have. Next week we are going to be talking about our first two vowels – a and i, continue rhyming, counting, writing and recognizing numbers to 15, Betsy Ross and the American Flag. Please reinforce these skills by completing the homework. Progress reports go home the first week of October. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
I hope everyone is staying staff is this awful weather. Please remember that homework is due on Friday’s. Make sure your child remembers to place it in my basket when they come in on Friday. I have noticed that some children have not been turning in their behavior folder daily. Please remind your child that this needs to be turned in daily. Oh, and continue to talk to your child about following the rules and paying attention in class. Thanks.
We had a great first week. Your child has really settled into routines and have learned the rules. Homework will be sent home tonight (Monday) and does not need to be returned until Friday. Please limit the pages you use in the homework notebook. This book is intended to last all year. Continue to work with your child on their cafeteria number, they must enter this number each time they buy something from the cafeteria. Also, if you have not returned the beginning of school information sheets that were sent home, please do so as soon as possible. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Have a great week.
