The Laminator

Sounds like a movie title, doesn’t it?

Great news!  The new laminator has arrived at JFKMS.  The laminator will be housed in the media center.  Mrs. Grimsley, not shown here in this picture, will be laminating materials once weekly on Wednesdays only.  Items needed to be laminated should be placed in the library by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesdays.  Laminated items can be picked up from the library once they have been completed.

New Equipment for JFKMS

schoolpad.jpgWe have a new addition to the technology we have at JFKMS.  We are now in possession of an Interwrite SchoolPad.  This is a wireless pad that gives the teacher the ability to teach from anywhere in the classroom or pass it to a student and let them contribute from their desk.  The pad is used with a projector and becomes an interactive whiteboard.

On Nov. 6 at our Staff Development, Win Anderson of Comcor, Inc. will be demostrating how the SchoolPad works and showing some of the many features of the tool.  Stop by and see for yourself how amazing this new technology is.  He will be presenting in Room A210.

Here is a link to the website where you can learn more about the SchoolPad.

JFK Gets Inspired

I recently held a training session for teachers on how to use Inspiration Software.  The SOL Support Teachers and I are very excited to have this program in the building.  The training was well received and I know that teachers are eager to use the software.  I’ve already heard from teachers ways in which they will integrate the program into their lessons.

Inspiration is a cross-curricular tool that helps students learn regardless of their style and to organize and process information for lasting learning.  The software can be used to motivate students and peak their interests in their studies in any curriculum.  Use this software to create handouts, presentations, projects and study notes for visual learning.

JFKMS has 30 copies of Inspiration that is available to teachers and students on COWs #3 and #4 and to teachers on 3 LCD/Projector Carts.

Following are some ideas on how Inspiration can be used in your classroom!
