Integrating Technology Into The MS Math Curriculum

I recently enrolled in the above titled online course through WHRO and began my class today.  The facilitator is Debbie Rollins and this is the 3rd class I’ve taken with her in addition to attending several of her training sessions at Tech Trek during the past 2 summers.  I’m looking forward to gaining valuable resources and strategies to share with the math teachers at JFKMS.

I know that technology can offer new and exciting ways to bring Math alive for students.
Our Week 1 objectives are to:
*examine inquiry-based instruction within the context of the Virginia state Standards of Learning
*
explore Web-based resources for Math complete a Math-based WebQuest

WebQuests are Internet-based projects that emphasize problem solving and collaboration.  They encourage higher level thinking on the part of the student that is required to accomplish a project.  Students take on roles and participate in groups.  WebQuests can cover almost any topic and can be designed to address any SOL.
