Welcome to your 2010 – 2011 Fourth Grade school year.  I trust that you have had a safe and relaxing summer and are ready to get back to learning new topics in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and more!!!

  • Off to a Grand Start – Week Two

Instruction started promptly on the first day of school. Students had instructional experiences in the following areas:

 Math   –  SOL 4.1a Place value;   SOL 4.6 adding/subtracting whole numbers; SOL 4.7 Multiply                      

Virginia Studies   –   VS.1,2 Virginia’s surrounding states 

Science   –   SOL 4.1 The Scientific Method

Writing   –  SOL 4.7a,b  Five parts of a friendly letter

 Language Arts   –   SOL 4.3c Synonyms /antonyms

  During this week, week two, last week’s skills will be reviewed, and additional skills will be introduced as follows: 

Math   –   SOL 4.1b,c Comparing, rounding whole numbers; SOL 4.6 adding/subtracting whole numbers

Virginia Studies  –   VS.2b,c;VS.10b Regions, rivers, products and industries in each of Virginia’s regions 

Science   –   SOL 4.6 Weather

Writing   –   SOL 4.7d  Writing a friendly letter

Language Arts   –   SOL 4.3c Homonyms / homophones

Thank you, parents, for your support.  Students absolutely need their school supplies in order to organize all of the information being provided.  If  help is needed for getting supplies, please do not hesitate to let me know.  All request will be kept confidential. Please continue to encourage your son/daughter to complete all homework assignments and interact, nightly, with three’s times tables.
