Program Overview
Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing and cooperative environment within the context of group music-making, that will guide and encourage each individual:
- to develop mind and body to fullest potential
- to foster respect for school, home and community
- to foster respect for self and concern for others
- to enjoy and take pride in learning, belonging, achieving and caring
In the KFMS Band, you can learn one of the following instruments:
- Woodwinds: Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax
- Brass: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba
- Percussion: Snare Drum, Mallets, Auxiliary Percussion
- I will also take one Electric Bass player per grade level
We work out of the Essential Elements 2000 Comprehensive Band Method Book.
Classes are set up as follows:
- 6th Grade Beginning Winds, including Electric Bass
- 6th Grade Beginning Percussion
- 7th Grade Intermediate Winds, including Electric Bass
- 7th Grade Intermediate Percussion
- 8th Grade Advanced Winds, including Electric Bass
- 8th Grade Advanced Percussion
