Bienvenue à Ma Classe! :-)

Filed under: Misc — Robin @ 2:33 pm

The letter below needs to be read AND “signed” by you and a parent.  You can either bring  the signature part back to me (if you print this at home), or send me an email sent to me here by Friday, September 12, 2014. This is for a grade! I’m looking forward to a great year! Stay tuned to this blog for info.  I post upcoming assignments, projects, and homework charts here, so check frequently.

Hello Parents and Students,                                                                 Thursday, August 21, 2014

Welcome to my French class.  We’re going to have fun and learn lot of French this year.  I am requesting that a parent and their student read this letter and acknowledge they have done so by “signing” the line below or by emailing me.  This way, there should be no misunderstandings of what is expected.

My classroom rules are simple:

1.  Come to class on time or have a pass,

2.  Be prepared – this means bringing all of your materials (text, workbook, pencil/pen, and paper, at least) every time, and

3.  Be respectful to everyone – students and teacher.  This also includes not being on your phone for any reason, unless I have specifically said so.

Hopefully, these rules are easy to follow and understand.  If not, the first time a student forgets a rule, they will be reminded of the rules.  If there is second time, a phone call or email home will be necessary.  If there is a third time, the student will receive a referral.

I require the following materials for each student:

1.  a 3 ring binder (of any size) and paper in it,

2.  a textbook and workbook (the workbooks usually take a while to be delivered),

3.  colored pencils, markers, or crayons – I have some, but  if everyone brought their own, that would help,

4.  any size/color index cards, and

5.  *optional – I recommend a small French/English dictionary that can fit in a backpack,

6.  *optional – a jump or flash drive, so students can work on projects here at school or at home.

There will be a notebook and book check at least once every 9 weeks, so your student should be prepared. I usually  announce this by saying, “There will be a book and notebook check next week.”  I don’t do “pop” anything in here.  I prefer students go to the restroom before or after class, but if they must go, they are to go during the middle 30 minutes of the block.  Please be aware that each student is issued a “Bulldog” pass at the beginning of the school year.  This pass has 4 passes for each semester – this means they can only go 4 times to the restroom or another place 4 times a semester (September to January and February to June) per class.  If a student requests to go, they must use one of their passes.  If they are called to the office or somewhere by an adult, I will send them with one of my passes.

I am looking forward to an exceptional year and I can be reached either through this blog, email (robinpatton@spsk12.net), or phone call to the school (757.923.5240).  If you call the school, you’ll probably be asked to leave a message, and I’ll get in touch with you at the first opportunity.  Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

Robin Patton

Filed under: Misc — Robin @ 2:54 pm
