Hello,

I hope you all enjoyed spring break. I did however, it just went by to fast!

Again, thank you for your support with the March of Dimes.

Please remind students that class rules must be followed. Spring fever is in the air!

Report cards will be distributed Wednesday, April 24th.

Please remember to review high frequency words.

Some students will be reading AR books and completing assessments. These books will not be coming home. They will be kept in the classroom, read and returned to the library. I do not want to be held responsible or paying for  lost books.

Remember to complete activities on Reading Eggs.

Hello,

NPES is accepting donations for the March of Dimes. Please adhere to the flyer sent home. The dance is Friday, April 12. students must pay $4.00 in order to attend. No money will be accepted after Thursday.

Also, we are having a Spring Celebration Friday, April 12. A list of items have been requested. Your child has chosen an item to bring. Please see the note.

School will be closed April 15-19. School will resume April 22. I hope you all enjoy your break.

Hello,

The color for the month of April is purple. Students are asked to wear purple each Wednesday to represent “The Power of Positivity”.

March of Dimes Spirit Week is April 8-12. More info to come soon.

Please have your child bring a light weight jacket or sweater to class. It can be really chilly during the day.

The 3rd nine weeks will end Friday, March 5. We are reviewing and completing assessments.

Students will be introduced to a new list of high frequency words this week. Please review words previously taught. Remember students must know at least 44 words to receive an “M” on the report card this grading period.

Hello,

The book fair begins March 28th -April 5.

The deadline to purchase yearbooks is March 29th.

We will be discussing the life cycles of animals soon. Students are excited about observing and hatching baby chicks.

Please continue to review skills using the study guides.

Tuesday, March 19th , is Popcorn Reading Night. It will begin at 6:30.

Friday, March 22nd,is Spring Picture Day.

Students are asked to wear green each Wednesday for the month of March.

Please continue to review skills taught especially high frequency words  and complete activities on Reading Eggs.

Hello,

Friday, March 8th was Career Day. The students had a great time with the presentations made by the speakers.

The color for the month of March is green. Students are asked to wear something green each Wednesday.

Please continue to review high frequency words and concept of word. Students should be able to track and read poems on the homework menu. They should also be able to recognize words in isolation in each poem.

Backpacks should be checked daily. There may be important information sent and this is a good way to see what your child is doing and a great way to review skill that are taught.

Hello,

Interim reports will be distributed Monday, March 4th.

There will be no school for students Tuesday, March 5th. School will resume Wednesday, March 6th.

Please continue to review high frequency words. In order for students to receive an “M” on report cards at the end of the third nine weeks they will have to recognize at least 44 words of the 58 taught and there will be 13 new words for the month of March.  High frequency words are located at the top of the study guide each month. Also, please continue to practice counting forward to at least 75.

Hello,

I hope you all the fathers and daughters enjoyed the dance Tuesday night. I heard it was really great.

This week we will continue to read and discuss stories, spell and write CVC words, discuss digraphs, write phonetically, review high frequency words, and participate in COW (concept of word) activities, Students will solve single step picture problems (addition) and complete activities involving  solid, liquid and gases.

Hello,

The Father/Daughter Dance will be Tuesday, February 19th, at 6:30.

Thank you for supporting the Suffolk Education Foundation. The students enjoyed participating in  favorite jersey day, crazy hat day, crazy sock day as well as the dance. Your donations will be used to support the students in Suffolk Public Students.

This week students will be discussing facts about famous African Americans. Please have your child  share facts with you. Also, practice counting forward to at least to 75 and count sets up to 20. Students should be able to identify the beginning, middle, and end of stories, spell CVC words and write simple sentences phonetically. Don’t forget to complete activities on Reading Eggs.

Hello,

NPES Student Council is raising money to support the Suffolk Education Foundation. Please make a donation of $4.00 and your child will be able to participate in all of the activities planned for the week. Please see flyer sent home previously for details. The dance will be Thursday, February 14th.

The Father/Daughter Dance will be Thursday night, February 14th. Please return forms if you plan to attend.

Friday, February 15th, is Parent/Teacher conference day. If you would like to schedule a conference you should return the conference slip with a time requested that is convenient for you. I will try to accommodate  you all. I look forward to conferencing with you.

School will be closed Monday, February 18th, in honor of President’s Day.

Remember to complete activities on Reading Eggs and also the study guide.
