Another wonderful day in kindergarten…

Hello,

I would like to thank you for sending in boxes of tissues for the class. It is cold/ flu season and the students are really using a lot of them.

Please continue to work on personal information and high frequency words.

This week we will work on glued sounds (same as word families), high frequency words, concept of word, writing phonetically and dictation. We will continue to discuss map skills and introduce coins and their value.

Don’t forget to complete Reading Eggs activities daily.

Hello,

Thanks to all of you who came out for Read a Lot Night. The students seemed to have enjoyed themselves and so did I.

Tuesday, March 14th, the fourth and fifth graders will be presenting “A Tribute to Motown and Others.”. This is a show you will not want to miss. The students have worked really hard to put on a great performance.

This week we will continue to discuss author/illustrator, concept of word, high frequency words, spell CVC words, read and understand fictional text. The students will  identify objects in ordinal positions (1st-10th) and  also terms such as: near/far, above/below, left/right, behind/in front of, over/under, in/out and fast/slow. Students will recognize maps and globes as well as locate land and water features.

Please remember to complete Reading Eggs activities and play the sight word games.

Hello,

Tuesday , February 7th is Camp Read a Lot Night. Please plan to attend. Activities have been planned for all students.

This week we will identify author/illustrator, concept of word, high frequency words, identify words according to beginning, middle and ending sounds, write phonetically, understand that water flows downhill, investigate and understand that objects sink or float as well adding using up to 10 concrete objects.

Please remember to complete activities on Reading Eggs and also review high frequency words.

Thank you so much for the Valentine gifts. I really appreciated them.

Monday, February 2oth, will be the Big Blast Party. If your child received a yellow form please return it or he/she will not be able to attend.

The Kindergarten Recognition Ceremony will take place Tuesday, February 21st, at 9:50.

This week we will be discussing: beginning, middle, and ending of stories, digraphs, concept of word (COW)  writing sentences phonetically, ordering words to make a complete sentence, telling time to the hour and exploring with magnets.

Hello,

Thank you so much for sending in the boxes of tissues. We really needed them.

Report cards will  be distributed  Tuesday, February 14th. If a conference has not  been requested you may  contact me and we will schedule one at a time that is convenient.

This week we will identify letters /sounds, digraphs, welded sound “all”, recognize characters, setting, events of stories, identify high frequency words, identify words according to beginning, middle and ending sounds as well as use phonetically spelled words to describe pictures or events. Students will write numbers for a given set up to 30, count by 5’s and 10’s to 100 and backwards to at least 75. Students will also discuss facts about George Washington, Abe Lincoln and President’s Day.

Students may bring Valentine cards in  by Tuesday, February 14th, if they haven’t already done so.

Hello,

NPES will be accepting dotation for Suffolk Education Foundations. Students will be able to participate in all activities for the price of $3.00. Please adhere to e-mail sent home.

Library books are to be returned Thursday of each week.

This week we will discuss characters, setting, and events, high frequency words, concept of word (COW), digraphs sh, ch, th, wh , and introduce welded sound “all”.  The students will recognize numbers 0-30, count and write to tell how many and discuss facts about famous black Americans.

Hello,

Please remember that library books are to be returned Thursday of each week.  Students will not be allowed to get another book until it is returned.

Muffins with Mom will be Tuesday, January 31st, from 8-9 a.m.

The 2nd nine weeks ends Wednesday, January 31st.

Please review personal information as well as any other area of weakness.. Students will be retested  for this nine weeks.

This week we will focus on short vowel sounds, concept of word ( COW), phonetic spelling, labeling pictures and patterns, high frequency words and shadows.

Hello,

Muffins with Moms will be January 31st, from 8-9 am. You and your child may come out and enjoy muffins and juice together.  If mom is not available another female may attend.

A list of sight word games have been attached to the homework menu this week. Please try some of them to help your child learn his/her sight words.

The end of the 2nd nine weeks is approaching. We will review and complete all skills and assessments for this grading period. Please review skills taught.

Hello,

I hope you all enjoyed the snow days last week. I really did and looking for more!

As you know last week was a short week so homework assignments will be due this Friday, January 20th.

We will complete PALS testing Tuesday, January 17th.

This week we work with vowel sounds, high frequency words, concept of word, review letters and sounds, practice writing first and last name on lined paper and label pictures. Students will predict unseen members in patterns, count forward to at least 50, count backwards from 10 and recognize numbers 0-30 as well as compare things from past and present.
