The Band Winter Concert will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.  Band Students should report to the band room NLT 6 p.m. in their concert attire. The concert will feature the Jazz Band, Symphonic Band and Concert Band. 

Rehearsals and performances for the Winter Concerts are mandatory for all participants.  Students who have an excused or unexcused absence from the performance must complete the Winter Concert Make - Up Assignment and turn it in by January 9, 2009.  The make up assignment is located in the page section to the right of this post. 

Band students will be dismissed from classes at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 10th.  They are to eat during 1st lunch and report to the band room by 11:30 a.m.  The busses will depart NRH at 12 noon.  We will perform at 2 p.m. at the Peanut fest fairgrounds with a short parade around the midway and a performance at the open area at the end of the midway.  The band will be returning to NRH by 5: 30 pm. on Friday, Oct 10th.  Students will have the opportunity to buy food at the Peanut Festival Fair.   PLEASE ARRANGE TO PICK UP YOUR STUDENT FROM NANSEMOND RIVER HIGH SCHOOL NLT 6 P.M. ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2008.  ALL STUDENTS MUST RETURN TO NRH ON THE SCHOOL BUS UNLESS WRITTEN PERMISSION IS OBTAINED FROM MR MCLEMORE.

Students should be in the band room by 10 a.m.  We will have a short rehearsal and depart the school at 1 p.m.  The competition begins at 2 p.m. at Huguenot High School in Richmond, VA.  We will be competing in the 3A category at approximately 4 p.m.  We should be departing Richmond approx. 7 p.m.  We will be stopping for dinner before returning to school.  PLEASE ARRANGE TO PICK UP YOUR STUDENTS FROM NANSEMOND RIVER BY 10 P.M.  ALL STUDENTS MUST RETURN TO NRH ON THE SCHOOL BUS UNLESS WRITTEN PERMISSION IS OBTAINED FROM MR MCLEMORE.

Students will need to bring a bag lunch and be prepared to buy their own dinner after the competition. 

We should be returning to NRH by 10 p.m. on Saturday night.

• 50% of your students band dues are due by September 12. 
• Band dues are $450.00 for the 08-09 school year.
• a break down of the band dues is posted on the right.
• all students must have an instrument and required materials for band class by September 15.  Students grades will be effected after Sept 15. 
• Our first home football game is Friday, September 12 and our first competition is Saturday, September 13 (Norcom Band Day).
• Orchestra and Jazz Band students must have a uniform for performance.  The deadline for ordering uniforms is October 8, 2008. 
• All students are required to practice a minimum of 30 min a day 6 days a week. 

Sorry for the short notice but, no busses will be running on Monday due to a mandatory bus drivers meeting.  Bus transportation will resume on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.  We will have band camp on Monday from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.  Tardies will not be recorded but absences will be counted as unexcused.

Warrior Summer Band Camp 2008

  *Students are expected to be free of drugs and alcohol.  Possession and/or use of drugs, alcohol or cigarettes will be grounds for immediate dismissal from the camp.

*Cell phones, ipods, mp3 players, PSP’s and any portable electronic devices are not allowed to be used, heard or seen during rehearsals or performances.

*Profanity is not acceptable language and will not be tolerated.

*Students are expected to be prompt for rehearsals and performances. 

*Excessive tardiness will be dealt with on an individual basis.

*A written excuse is to be submitted following any absence.

*Chewing gum, candy, food, or open drinks are not allowed in the band room or practice rooms.

*Writing on the chalkboard, music stands, chairs, or bulletin boards is prohibited.

*Jewelry should be left at home on all performances and safe guarded during rehearsals. 

* Students are expected to observe all Suffolk Public Schools codes of conduct while in the building, on the grounds or on the school bus.
