Good evening parents and students,
This week will be the final week of summer band camp at NRHS. Hours will shift from mornings to evenings (3 pm to 6:30 pm). Also, tomorrow we will experience a total solar eclipse from 1:40 pm to 4 pm. There are no buses available to transport students tomorrow due to bus driver in-service training. Out of concern for the safety of students driving during the eclipse, we will cancel camp tomorrow. Summer band camp will resume on Tuesday, August 22 – 24. Buses will be available starting at 1:45 pm.
NO BAND CAMP ON MONDAY. WE WILL RESUME NRHS SUMMER BAND CAMP Tuesday AUGUST 22- 24.
No buses will be available on Monday, August 21, 2017.
Students must have their own transportation to and from Summer band camp at Nansemond River High School. Summer camp hours will change August 21 thru 24
(3:00 pm to 6:30 pm)
Buses will run again on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, August 22, 23, and 24.

From March 4 through April 3, “The President’s Own” will host “Sousa’s March Mania,” a tournament pitting 32 marches against each other for the Marine Band online community to determine which one is the favorite. Every day through April 3, marches will compete head to head while our friends and fans vote which marches advance in the tournament. Students in Mr Woodis’ class have been given a bracket to complete. Students must bring the brackets to class each week to show for homework and quiz grades. A winning bracket is an automatic 100 quiz grade. The champion march will be announced on April 4. In order to win “Sousa’s March Mania” you must obtain a perfect bracket, completed prior to the start of the first game at 9 a.m., on March 4 (honor system). If you win, you’ll be named an honorary “March King” for a day! Participants are also invited to share completed brackets with the Marine Band by emailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org or posting to facebook.com/marineband.
