Physicals required for ALL MARCHING BAND STUDENTS AT NRHS

Virginia High School League (VHSL) physicals will take place at Nansemond River High School on Wednesday, June 5, 2014 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  Physicals cost $10 (cash only).  ALL NRHS MARCHING BAND STUDENTS MUST HAVE A CURRENT PHYSICAL.  Middle school students must be accompanied by a parent. Physicals performed outside of the VHSL site at NRHS may cost considerably more money and time. Please take advantage of this opportunity.  Students must have a completed physical with a clearance for physical activity CLEARLY stated on the form with the doctor’s signature. Our 21 year participation streak in the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the United States has been saved.  The NRHS MMW Band will be marching in the Memorial Day Parade in Portsmouth, VA on Monday.  We are near the front of the parade so we must be on time.  The uniform will be the NEW band t-shirts “Excellence is the Standard,”  NEW baseball caps,  black shorts and black shoes with black socks.  Also bring your flash gloves,  ($5 for replacement gloves),  New band members must have a written permission slip in order to participate. Parents must provide a written permission slip for students to participate.  Handwritten permission slips will be accepted.  All students MUST ride to the parade and back to school on the bus for insurance purposes.

Band members should be in the NRHS band room NLT 8 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2013.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation.  We will be returning to Nansemond River by 12:30 p.m.

Senior Awards Night

All students in Mr Woodis’ 1st and 4th block band classes will be performing for the Senior Awards night on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.  Students should be in the band room by 6 p.m. on Wednesday night.  Please see the attached letter above that was sent home with students today.

Marching band rehearsal will be held next week Monday – Thursday (May 13 – 16) from 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Students will receive the new baseball cap and t-shirts on Friday.  ALL STUDENTS MUST PAY THE SPRING BAND DUES ($30.00).  The deadline to pay Spring band dues has passed.  This must be paid before students will be allowed to participate in ANY Spring band performances.  Event sheets have been sent home for this coming weekends performances.
