Mandatory MMW Band Rehearsal Tuesday, April 3 @ 2:30 p.m.

  • All students who do not make Tuesday’s rehearsal April 3  must be prepared to check off Camino Real on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 2:30 – 5 p.m.
  • All Nansemond River Band Booster fundraiser orders and monies are due on Tuesday, April 3.
  • All Dancer, Flag, and Majorette candidates must have a signed permission slip in order to tryout.  The deadline for turning in permission slips is Tuesday, April 3.

  • ALL MARCHING BAND STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A COMPLETED VHSL PHYSICAL BEFORE PARTICPATING IN MARCHING BAND FOR THE 2012- 2013 SCHOOL YEAR
  • All school owned instruments must be turned in before April 6 Spring Break for inventory.

 

Nansemond River Band Booster meeting Thursday, April 5, 2012 @ 7 p.m.

The Nansemond River Band Boosters Association will hold it second meeting for 2012 on Thursday, April 5, 2012.  The parent (s) of all current and new students in the marching band at Nansemond River are required to attend at least two band booster meetings before the student will be allowed to participate in marching band for the 2012 – 2013 school year. Meetings are held on the first Thursday in each month with the exception of January and July.   The meeting schedule is as follows:

 

 

February 2, 2012  @ 7 p.m. 

March 1, 2012 @ 7 p.m.  (CANCELED) Update: Students must have a VHSL physical for the 2012-2013 season.  All fundraiser packets are due on April 5, 2012 @ 7 p.m.

April 5, 2012 @ 7 p.m.

May 3, 2012 @ 7 p.m.

June 7, 2012 @ 7 p.m.

July ( no meeting)

August 2, 2012 @ 7 p.m.

September 6, 2012 @ 7 p.m.

NRHS Dancer, Flag, and Majorette tryouts April 2 – 6.

Dancer, Flag, and Majorette tryouts for the NRHS Magnificent Marching Warrior Band will take place April 2 – 6.  All students must have a signed permission slip in order to tryout.  See Mr Woodis or Mrs Gibson in the main office for a permission slip or you can download it from the following links:

Congratulations 2012 All City Participants

The All City Band and Orchestra performances this year were brilliant.  All performances will be available in the Suffolk Public Schools Video online library.  They will also be broadcast on the Suffolk municipal channel.  Your hard work and dedication will benefit you greatly.  Thank you community, parents, and teachers for your continued support of the arts in our public schools.

Marching band meeting tomorrow in the band room

  • A mandatory meeting has been scheduled for all marching band members on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.  Come prepared for a music rehearsal following the meeting.    
  • Students will receive the band booster fundraiser information.
  • Seniors must choose to participate in Spring band or end their marching band activities in good standing at this meeting.
  • Outstanding band dues notices will be sent home.
  • Spring band schedules will be sent home.
  • All students in Mr Woodis’ classes have been notified that the make up assignments for missing rehearsals are posted on the blog.  Students can also make up missed rehearsal time in the morning from 7:25 – 7:40 a.m.  Four consecutive days of morning practice sessions will equal  one hour of practice time.
