Fruit Orders will be delivered on December 9

Thank you everyone who participated in our annual Florida Citrus sale.  The fruit will arrive at Nansemond River on Friday, December 9th.  Parents may pick up their students fruit from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m.  Please plan to pick up your entire order at the same time on Friday before 9 p.m.  If you can not make it on Friday for pick up,  someone will be here on Saturday, December 10 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to allow you to pick up your orders.  Thanks again and enjoy the Thanksgiving Break.  Marching Band rehearsals will resume on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.  Our next performance is the Suffolk Holiday Parade in downtown Suffolk, Virginia.

Grand Illumination Parade / Suffolk Holiday Parade of Lights

The Grand Illumination Parade will take place in downtown Norfolk on Saturday, November 19.

The Suffolk Holiday Parade of Lights will take place in downtown Suffolk on December 10.

NR Music Department presents a “Harvest Concert” Monday

Harvest Concert/9-weeks Concert Information:

Date:                         Monday, November 7, 2011

Time:                         Concert begins at 7 PM;

Band and Orchestra  students should arrive by 6:15 PM

 

Dress:                                    Casual: Band T-shirts, Black pants, Black dress shoes; no jewelry

 

Repertoire:             selections  prepared in class and during rehearsals

 

Worth:                      Test Grade

Should the student miss the 9 weeks concert, they must make up the concert with a comparable performance assignment that will include solo performance in class and paper; Grade will be entered as “missing” until made up.  Student will receive a “0” after Thursday, November 10, 2011

 Orchestra and choirs will perform on the same evening as the band, as it is their 9-weeks grade as well.  Students must stay for the whole concert in order to receive FULL credit.

Kings Fork Band Day

All MMW Band students should be in the band room by4 p.m. on Saturday , November 5, 2011 with their black shoes, white spats, black socks (no ankle socks), shorts and the current years band T shirt.  Auxiliary should have on the appropriate attire to allow their uniform (costumes) to be worn properly. We will be wearing the official uniform. We should be returning to NRHS by 9 p.m. Saturday night.

NRHS vs LHS football game (Senior Night)

All students should be in the band room by 5:30 p.m. on Friday November 4, 2011.  (Band students are not allowed to remain after school on Friday for any reason.  The band room will be locked at 2:30 p.m. Mr Woodis will NOT be staying after school on Friday.)  A list of escorts have been provided to the ticket gate.  Changes to the escort listing must be approved by the Activities Director.  A senior night particpation form was sent home with seniors on October 4, 2011 and all final changes were made at the end of today’s rehearsal.  Escorts must be at the ticket gate by 6:15 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2011.  Escorts should sit in the stands near the band.  Senior night recognition for band students will take place during the halftime of the NRH vs LHS football game.  Escorts should report to the West end of the track 8 minutes prior to the halftime period.
