Morning Ms Sears,
Sure. The pep band will practice on Mondays and Fridays during basketball season. They will perform at selected basketball games. I’m still awaiting the game selection from Coach Young. This group is extra curricular and does not effect the students grades. They must attend all Symphonic band rehearsals and performances and maintain a 2.0 overall grade and a 3.0 or better in band classes.

All band and orchestra students are required to maintain a notebook at Nansemond River High School. The following items should be in your notebooks if you are a 1st, 2nd or 3rd year band or orchestra student. The contents list what you should have in your notebooks as of today. If you are missing any items, you need to see me before Jan 11.
1st year student contents
- Course Outline (posted on school website)
- 5 main ingredients for a successful music performance
- Notes on the counting system
- A note tree
- Practice log
- Quizzes, tests, homework and class assignments from 1st and 2nd 9 week period.
- Vocabulary words and correct definitions
- extra document protectors
2nd Year student contents
- Course Outline (posted on school website)
- 5 main ingredients for a successful music performance
- Note tree
- A copy of a program or a list of music you performed for the Harvest Concert and / or Winter Concert.
- A copy of the All District band prepared music (band students only)
- A copy of any music that you have practiced on your own time with the section marked in pencil.
- ***Points will be deducted for having original and / or abused copies of music in your notebook.
- Circle of 5ths
- Vocabulary words with the correct definition.
- Extra document protectors
3rd year student contents
- Course Outline (posted on school website)

The Fruit will be delivered to the school on Friday, December 14, 2008. Parents must pick up the fruit on Friday from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. or Saturday 8 a.m -1 p.m. Please bring your pink copy of your fruit orders. You must pick up your entire order when you come to pick it up. After Saturday fruit will be stored in the band hall but we will not be responsible for your fruit.

The Orchestra and Chorus Winter Concert will be tonight at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. The Symphonic Band , Concert Band and Jazz Band Winter Concert will be Tuesday, December 18, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

The NR Band Winter Concert will take place Tuesday, December 18th at 7 pm in the auditorium. Concert attire is required. Students have recieved letters concerning their uniform. The symphonic band will have rehearsals every Tuesday during concert season which lasts from now until March 21. Please check the school website under band & orchestra for more info. The NR Orchestra will be special guests for the JYMS Winter Concert at John Yeates Middle Tuesday, December 11th. The NR Orchestra and NR Chorus will have a Concert on Thursday, December 13th in the auditorium at NR at 7 p.m. Please mark these very important concerts on your calendar.
