FGMS Page Burners win March Reading Madness

Posted by FGMS Library Media Specialist on April 11, 2016

Congratulations to Mrs. Matthew’s FGMS Page Burners for winning the March Reading Madness competition!  During this 6-week competition that kicked off with a school wide assembly on February 19th, over 6650 AR points were earned by FGMS students and the competition was fierce.  Second place team, Stephenson’s Starbuck’s Skittles, put up a valiant fight but the Page Burners, led by #1 First Round Draft pick DaNajah Winfield, came out on top.  Meghan Hinton, #31 First Round Draft pick, led the Starbuck’s Skittles throughout the competition, but needed more help from her teammates at the end!

Second Chance winners were The Jewett Squad and Vann’s Reader Leaders.  Each of these teams earned over 285 AR point during the competition, even after being eliminated from the bracket. Congratulations to the students on each team for continuing to read and keeping their teams in the running!

Thanks to all the FGMS staff members for all they did as coaches to motivate students to read.  We are already planning for next year’s competition and know it will be even a bigger success.
