We are so excited about the progress we have made already. We continue to work on regulating our emotions. We are learning how to respond to the different emotions we have and the appropriate responses to our feelings. They appear to enjoy school and we certainly enjoy having them in our class. Mrs. Barrett and I are SUPER excited about the start of a new school year. For the next few weeks, we will be learning about our school, classroom rules and routines. Please continue to review ALL of the letters of the alphabet. Our goal is to recognize all our letters and sounds with 100% accuracy. We are also working on the mastery of writing first AND last names with only the first letter in each name being capitalized

Please remember to check and empty your child’s folder daily. We do not want you to miss any pertinent information that might be sent home.

Our goal is that 100% of students recognize ALL the letters of the alphabet by Spring. Please continue to work on this at home. We are focusing on the following sight words: see, I, is, like, a, she, here, and, he, the, we. See how many can be name. We have been talking about what makes vowels special. Just for FUN, see how much they can tell you at home.

Name writing: Practice writing first and last name.

Address: Practice stating home address.

What are we learning and How can you help at home?

-Review personal information (Birthday, Parent’s name, Address, Phone Number…)

-Students should know those letters taught: Ss, Pp, Tt, Oo, Xx, Uu, Yy, Ww, Ff, Aa, Zz, Bb, Mm, Rr, Cc

-Write first and last name: We are learning to capitalize only the first letter in our  first and last names. All other letters should be lowercase.

Thank you to every parent who sent a “Love Letter”  to their child. We have the letters displayed outside our classroom for Valentine’s Day. Mrs. Barrett and I were overwhelmed with your expressions of love. We know that we have your “hearts in human form.” We appreciate your entrusting us with your babies and we love them dearly for they have become our babies.

What are we doing and How can you help at home?

These are our goals for the month of January. Please spend about 10 minutes (daily) reviewing those skills taught in class (Bb, Yy, Tt, Uu, Xx, Ss, Ww, Ff, Pp, Ff, Aa, Zz). It is our goal that students recognize ALL the letters of the alphabet and be able to produce the sound for each letter by the end of the year. They should also be able to identify numerals 1-10 and count from 1-20. Practice name writing (first and last name) and also practice writing those letters taught. We are also working on doing neat and careful work. We want to always present our “BEST.”

As the Winter Holidays approach us, we are sooooo excited about decorating our room and preparing Christmas Crafts.  Parents, if you have a  favorite craft that you wish to share with our class during the month of December, we would love to have you.  As you prepare, please do consider the age of our students and their attention spans. Our activities are usually planned for about 20 minutes. Please let us know a week in advance so, that we may discuss details and include it in our lesson planning. We look forward to hearing from you.

We are working on name writing daily. If your child is not writing their name, this is a skill that should be practiced every night until mastered. If they are writing their first name, we are moving on to the last name. Also, we are beginning to work on stating personal information to include: parent’s name, birthday, address, age and full names.
