Important Information:

The second graders will be having another field trip on March 31, 2020. They will be attending a performance entitled Earth’s Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure at the Sandler Performing Arts Center in Virginia Beach, VA. The cost of this field trip is $4.00 per student and the chaperones will be the second grade teacher, paraprofessional staff, and special education staff/teachers. Your student will need to bring a bag lunch that day. Please do not send a lunch box. If you student needs a lunch from the cafeteria, that will be provided. A form will be sent home on last Wednesday. Please complete the form and return with $4.00 by March 13, 2020, in order for us to make the final arrangements for this field trip

Important Information:

The Annual Father Daughter Dance will be held on February 28th from 6:30-8:00. I have email the RSVP slip and there is also a pink slip that have been given to the girls. Please RSVP by February 25th.

The 2nd Nine weeks Student Recognition Assembly will be held this Friday, February 28th. K-2 will be from 2-2:30 and 3-5 will be from 2:40-3:10.

Box Top Battle sponsored by Student Council: All students need to do is turn in grocery receipts to the library with their grade level written on the top. Your privacy is important to us so no names on the grocery receipts! Student Council will scan the receipts to determine qualifying box tops. Box Tops for Education is now all done electronically. The Box Top Battle will end February 28th!

Important Information:

The Suffolk Education Foundation is beginning its fundraising activities this month. We have several activities planned here at Nansemond Parkway. This money goes to support student scholarships at the three local high schools, teacher grants, and many other activities that benefit the students of Suffolk Public Schools. Listed below are the activities planned for Nansemond Parkway.
Monday, February 10 through Friday, February 14 (or until we run out): Student Council will sell foam finger Valentines, as seen above, for $1.00 each.
Monday (February 10): Jersey Day – Wear your favorite sports jersey or team shirt.
Tuesday (February 11): Crazy Hat Day
Wednesday (February 12): Crazy Sock Day
Thursday (February 13): School Spirit Day
Friday (February 14): Valentine’s Day Dance

Early Start –2nd grade: 1:50-2:40
3rd-5th: 2:45-3:35

The cost is $5.00 to participate in all activities. All money must be paid by Thursday, February.

Important Information:

This week, your child will be making a model of a habitat of their choice in class.  I am asking that you send in a shoe box with a lid for this project by January 27th.  If you do not have one, I do have a few extra of my own.  Please let me know if you will need one.  The student must provide their own models of animals and plants that live in their chosen habitat.  These can be created out of paper or purchased.  You can find model animals at the Dollar Store, Michaels, and sometimes Walmart. I will provide some materials for the students to use in their project.
